Counseling – How and When It Can Help

Counseling to Heal the Heart

Counseling can play an important role in healing and overcoming traumatic situations.  Often when we’ve gone through a trauma or deep pain, we create blocks that keep us from having to relive painful memories.  Creating these blocks keeps us safe from feeling the pain, but they also may cause strong emotional side effects as a result.  Oftentimes we’re left wondering what’s wrong with us or why we seem to be acting out repeating patterns in our lives.

By taking time to revisit the old situations that have hurt us, we can grow past that painful experience and create new, empowering relationships to these hurts.  Once we’ve changed how we feel about what’s happened to us we’re able to truly heal and move to a better place in life.

Isn’t Counseling a Boring, Static Talk Fest?

It’s true that “talking” is a common view of therapy, but there are many forms to counseling.  If the image of lying on a couch while a therapist mumbles encouraging “uh-huh’s” to you springs to mind, we’re way different than that!  At Heart and Hand Center, we use out-of-the-box therapies, such as working with horses, using art, and also play to help get at the deeper issues at work.

The most important role we play is in creating a safe and supportive environment for you to work through what’s going on.  We believe in strong interactive and supportive therapy that ultimately leaves you feeling stronger and happier than before.

If you’ve been wondering if or thinking that counseling might be right for you, we want to hear from you, so please contact us to see if we can help.
